Contract of employment
Employees at our university receive a contract of employment commensurate with the civil service.
Salary
We place emphasis on performance-related and transparent salaries for our staff. Salaries are paid according to skills offered, the job profile and individual performance. The canton government reviews salaries on a yearly basis. We are an equal opportunities employer.
Deductions
Statutory deductions are made each month from the gross salary which we as an employer meet in equal measure:
- Senior citizens, dependent relatives and disability insurance, loss of income benefits (AHV, IV, EO)
- Unemployment insurance (ALV)
- Non-occupational accident insurance (NBU)
- Pension insurance (BVG / 2nd tier)
We also deduct tax at source from foreign employees each month from their salaries.
Working hours, public holidays, holidays
Our working week for our full-time employees totals 42 hours, with flexitime wherever possible. We offer flexible models with weekly working hours of 40 to 44 hours that allow you to organise when you work yourself. Part-time employees can agree to yearly working hours that guarantee the same monthly salary despite seasonal fluctuations in working hours.
The yearly entitlement for paid holiday is 20 working days. From the age of 50, the entitlement increases by five days and from 60 rises to 30 working days. Public holidays like Easter, Christmas and New Year are extra. On average these amount to about eight public holidays a year across Switzerland. Find out more about how you can manage your working hours in the regulations on working hours.
