The foundation is the Federal Constitution, which prohibits any discrimination on the grounds of physical, mental or psychological disabilities (Federal Constitution, Art. 8(2)). The measures required to eliminate disadvantages of people with disabilities are implemented in the Federal Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against People with Disabilities (Art. 2).
Furthermore, Switzerland ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on 15 April 2014. It entered into force in May 2014. With its accession to the Convention, Switzerland commits itself to removing any obstacles with which people with disabilities are confronted, to protect people with disabilities against discrimination and to promote their inclusion and equality in society.
Based on these cornerstones, it is the University of St.Gallen’s goal and mission to enable all students with a disability and/or a chronic illness to pursue their studies without any barriers and with as much success as possible.
